Yanay Waterfall is a natural attraction also known as Mandor Waterfall. It is approximately 60 meters high. Its name comes from the Quechua word “Yanay”, which means black, and the suffix “-y”, which indicates possession. The site is surrounded by abundant vegetation, making it even more attractive for visitors.
First, this nature tour to Yanay Mandor Waterfall is located just 30 minutes from the city of Quillabamba. To reach Yanay Waterfall, you take a 15-minute walk through coffee plantations, fruit trees, and secondary forest, accompanied by the singing of birds until you arrive at this paradisiacal place. There, you can enjoy the waterfall, take photos, record videos, and do many other activities. This destination is also recommended for families with children, as the walk is not very demanding. Just 10 minutes away is Madera Verde Ecolodge, a space designed with natural pools, handmade sculptures over 4 meters tall, and à la carte dishes prepared with local products.

Location: Yanay Waterfall is located in the district of Maranura, province of La Convención, department of Cusco, Peru. Climate: The area has a warm climate throughout the year. The maximum temperature can reach up to 32 °C, while the lowest temperature can drop to 14 °C. The rainy months are from November to April. From May to October, rainfall is less likely, so the heat is more intense.
Opening Hours and Fee: It is recommended to visit the waterfall in the morning. Entrance to the site is completely free.
Activities: Hiking, flora and fauna observation, excursions, photography, and filming.
How to get there?: By car: To access Yanay Waterfall from Quillabamba, you must travel for 30 minutes toward the district of Maranura. From there, take the detour to the waterfall. The walk takes about 20 minutes. It is a recommended attraction for nature lovers.
Current condition: The conservation status is good, as the site receives few visitors due to limited tourism promotion and its distance.
