Quillabamba is the capital of the province of La Convención, in the heart of the jungle of the department of Cusco. Just 4–5 hours from the imperial city, this hidden destination combines an overflowing nature with Inca history, unique gastronomy and the warmth of its communities.
Known as the “City of Eternal Summer”, it maintains an average temperature of 25 °C year-round. Its turquoise rivers, waterfalls hidden among cacao and coffee, and the imposing Pongo de Mainique make it one of Peru's best-kept secrets.

From Cusco city (Av. Antonio Lorena) take a bus to Quillabamba. The route passes through the Sacred Valley and Puerto Málaga. The trip takes 4 to 5 hours. Approximate cost: S/20–35 soles.
Quillabamba has a warm climate year-round (25 °C average). The dry season (May–October) is ideal for tours to Pongo de Mainique and the waterfalls. Avoid peak rainfall in March.
Light clothing, high SPF sunscreen, insect repellent, trekking or water shoes, a light rain poncho, and original documents to access protected natural areas.
Quillabamba has hotels near the Plaza de Armas and rural ecolodges. For a unique experience, there are options along the Vilcanota river like Madera Verde Ecolodge, surrounded by nature.
