Quillabamba Carnivals – The Joy of the South Returns

The city of Quillabamba dresses in color and joy to celebrate the most vibrant and cheerful carnivals in the south. Below, we detail the exciting activities that will mark this month of February:

February 1: Compadres Day
We begin the month with the traditional Compadres Day. The streets are filled with traditional rag dolls displaying the faces of beloved compadritos. Every corner of the city is decorated with characteristic messages from these endearing characters.

February 8: Comadres Day
This special day is dedicated to the comadritas, who are honored with allegories and dolls that beautify the city. The creativity and playful spirit of the compadres can be seen in markets, neighborhoods, parks, and the main square. We recommend taking a walk through the markets to immerse yourself in the festive atmosphere and see the celebrations and creativity behind each doll.

Starting at 10:00 am, the main square becomes the epicenter of fun with contests such as the Allegorical Little Bulls Contest, the Convenciano Puchero Contest, and an exciting Music Festival featuring talented local artists.
